چکیده

We discuss the theory of electron-molecule excitation processes of importance in fusion plasmas. We consider elastic scattering, rotational, vibrational, and electronic excitation in turn and also dissociative attachment and impact dissociation.

A first-principles theoretical study of hydrogen-bond dynamics and vibrational spectral diffusion in aqueous ionic solution: Water in the hydration shell of a fluoride ion*

We present a first-principles simulation study of vibrational spectral diffusion and hy drogen-bond dynamics in solution of a fluoride ion in deuterated water. The present calculations are based on ab initio molecular dynamics simulation for trajectory genera tion and wavelet analysis for calculations of frequency fluctuations. The O–D bonds of deuterated water in the anion hydration shell are ...

Neutralization of methyl cation via chemical reactions in low-energy ion-surface collisions with fluorocarbon and hydrocarbon self-assembled monolayer films.

Low-energy ion-surface collisions of methyl cation at hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon self-assembled monolayer (SAM) surfaces produce extensive neutralization of CH3+. These experimental observations are reported together with the results obtained for ion-surface collisions with the molecular ions of benzene, styrene, 3-fluorobenzonitrile, 1,3,5-triazine, and ammonia on the same surfaces. For comp...

F eb 2 00 8 Low and intermediate energy electron collisions with the C − 2 molecular anion

Calculations are presented which use the molecular R-matrix with pseudostates (MRMPS) method to treat electron impact electron detachment and electronic excitation of the carbon dimer anion. Resonances are found above the ionisation threshold of C−2 with 1Σ+g , Πg and Πg symmetry. These are shape resonances trapped by the effect of an attractive polarisation potential competing with a repulsive...

Collisions of low-energy antiprotons and protons with atoms and molecules

Antiproton (p̄) collisions have evolved to a powerful tool for the testing of dynamic electron correlations in atoms and molecules. While advances in the understanding of p̄ collisions with the simplest oneand two-electron atoms, H and He, have been achieved experiment and theory did not agree for low-energy p̄ + He collisions (< 40 keV), stimulating a vivid theoretical activity. On the other hand...
